Looking for an attractive and well-made SUV for your next vehicle? Consider the 2019 Mazda CX-9 or 2019 Mazda CX-5. Both of these vehicles have a lot to offer drivers. Which one is a better choice for you depends on your specific wants and needs for an SUV? The following guide breaks down the differences between these two choices in three key areas

The engines in both of these vehicles are very similar. The CX-5 is powered by a 2.5L SKYACTIV®-G 4-Cylinder engine that provides drivers with 187-horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque. Those who go with the CX-9 will find a 2.5L SKYACTIV®-G Dynamic Pressure Turbo 4-Cylinder underneath their hood. This engine is capable of up to 250-horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. Upper trim levels of the CX-5 can be upgraded to this engine choice. Both of these engine options are paired with the SKYACTIV®-Drive 6-Speed Automatic w/ Manual Shift & Sport Mode. All-wheel-drive is available on every model of these two SUVs and standard on their upper trim levels.

The Mazda CX-9 is the larger of these two vehicles, but they look very similar from the outside. They both have sleek curves and manage to look both sporty and sophisticated. Drivers can enjoy the moonroof and signaling exterior mirrors, standard on certain trim levels. On the inside of the CX-9, there is enough room to seat up to seven people in luxury. The CX-5 comfortably seats up to five. Inside touches include sculpted aluminum, soft-touch surfaces, and opulent grades of wood.

Both of these vehicles come well-equipped from the entry-level on up. They both come standard with a standard 7” color touchscreen display that runs the user-friendly MAZDA CONNECT™ Infotainment System. Other standard features include Bluetooth connectivity, an HD radio, and a rearview camera. Upgrading through the trim levels will get you features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
